CNT Launches Communications Platform for Government Entities

CNT announced that it inaugurated a USD 4.3 million communications platform through which it will provide internet, cloud, housing, telephony and unified communications services to state bodies in the country. The services will allow data transmission speeds of 10 Gbps. In addition, a mobile node is being implemented to improve mobile connectivity.

Eucador Government Seeks Stake Divesture In Companies And Asset

President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa has announced that the government is seeking to divest stake in certain companies. He mentioned that Banco Del Pacifico S.A., is being evaluated to be offered to private investors. In Empresa Pública Flota Petrolera Ecuatoriana and Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones CNT EP the government is trying to retain its minority stake and divest 49% stake. Sopladora, the hydroelectric utility project nearing companies is also short listed for divestiture. TC Televisión Todos los derechos reservados and GamaTv are also being offered by the government.

CNT Opens Datacenter in Quito

CNT has inaugurated a 12,000m2, USD 21 million datacenter in Quito. The datacenter has Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute and Leadership in Energy, and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The center required the creation of 500 jobs during construction and will lead to 50 permanent direct and indirect jobs. CNT said the center would complement existing cloud services being offered for the last four years, including infrastructure hosting.
