Sodexo Canada Ltd. Key Developments

Sodexo Canada Announces Executive Changes

Sodexo Canada announced Suzanne Bergeron as new country president. Effective Sept. 1, 2018, Suzanne Bergeron will take on the responsibility of country president for Canada while continuing to be vice president for human resources. Suzanne succeeds Barry Telford who will focus full-time on growing and strengthening the company's education business across Canada and western United States. Between now and September 1, Barry and Suzanne will work together on the transition. She will be Sodexo Canada's first woman President. Suzanne's office will remain in Montreal. Suzanne became head of Human Resources for Sodexo in Canada in 2016, responsible for labour relations, operational Human Resources support, total rewards, payroll, claims, organizational development, training, and talent acquisition. Prior to that position, she was in France as the Office Manager for the Group CEO where she coordinated Group Executive Committee activities, and played an active part in the creation of the company's global transformation. Suzanne joined Sodexo Canada in 2005 in Montreal. Barry joined Sodexo Canada in 2006 leading the Canadian University and Healthcare segments before being named Country President in 2014. In 2016, he took on the additional responsibilities as CEO, Universities West.

Mackenzie Health Announces Partnership with Sodexo Canada to Expand the Interconnectivity of IT Systems

Mackenzie Health announced that it is expanding its innovation strategy by radically advancing how it delivers non-clinical support services. As part of Mi2's first-in-Canada Innovation Unit, the hospital is partnering with Sodexo Canada, to expand the interconnectivity of IT systems that manage service fulfillment to improve care through greater efficiencies and patient-centred flexibility. Sodexo is working closely with Mackenzie Health to develop, test and evaluate technological solutions and innovations that will be adopted to improve patient care across the healthcare system. Impacted support services include: call centre operations, environmental services, patient transport, bio med and physical plant maintenance, central equipment distribution, security and patient food services. The project involves upgrading the functionality of the hospital's call centre (which directs internal service requests to the appropriate inpatient unit) and integrating the call centre's IT systems with the hospital's electronic medical record, which digitally manages patient scheduling. The project's goal is to get as close as possible to 'one-touchpoint' service fulfillment, freeing clinical staff to spend more at the bedside caring for patients. Under the envisioned 'smart' system, a single directive from a physician or nurse entered into the hospital's patient flow system will automatically trigger the entire range of support services needed to fulfill the request. Each automated digital service request will be time stamped, scheduled and directed to the appropriate support staff via mobile devices. This latest expansion of Mackenzie Health's innovation strategy is expected to establish new healthcare industry support service standards that will be shared with other hospitals in Ontario and beyond.

Sodexo Signs Global Business and Disability Network Charter

Signatories to the Charter agree to work together to advance workplace inclusion on a global scale by sharing ideas, resources and best practices. The signing ceremony took place June 29th in Paris at a special event organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO) Global Business and Disability Network (GBDN). Over the next 10 years, Sodexo would continue its drive to actively recruit, engage and support people with disabilities throughout its worldwide operations, including Canada. The four companies that signed the Charter also became members of GBDN, which brings businesses together to promote workplace inclusion by highlighting the business advantages of employing people with disabilities.
