University of Houston System Closes on Land for New Katy Campus
Nov 10 16
The University of Houston System has closed on the purchase of 46 acres for its new Katy campus, part of a larger mixed-use development. UH's 46 acres will be part of a 125-acre master-planned, mixed-use development, which the system and Parkside have rebranded as University Center. Parkside plans to begin designing and building University Center's infrastructure - including streets, utilities, lighting and landscaping - soon. UH initially plans to build an 80,000-square-foot facility, which currently is in the design phase. Construction is expected to begin in August 2017, and the campus should open in fall 2019. The UHS University Park campus initially is expected to serve 2,000 students, but the system's master plan includes 500,000 square feet of space, eventually accommodating 8,000 to 10,000 students.
