Miyoshi Optoelectronics (S) Pte. Ltd. has entered into a joint marketing agreement with NEC Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. for the two companies to jointly market a high-performance face-recognition surveillance related product in Singapore, Malaysia and other Asia Pacific regions. The two companies are jointly launching a new line of products and solutions, which will consist of integrating NEC's NeoFace® Watch, a real-time facial recognition solution, into Miyoshi's wireless audio/video wearable solution trademarked as the Digital SRS, a highly reliable, low latency body-worn video/audio server/transmitter, COFDM1 streamer and COTS2 camera, with a personal ruggedized lithium battery on a Molle vest. The combination of Miyoshi and NEC solution allows security officers on the ground instant analysis of what they see, enabling them to provide actionable intelligence to commanders.
NEC Asia Pacific to Collaborate with SMRT Buses to Introduce Innovative Technologies in the Public Transportation System in Singapore

NEC Asia Pacific has announced that it is collaborating with SMRT Buses to introduce innovative technologies in the public transportation system in Singapore. The two will announce the implementation of a suite of technologies at the Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange. The temporary bus interchange will be feature-packed with the latest information systems to assist commuters in their journey. Interactive information panels will display a NEC-developed passenger information system which provides real-time bus and train departure timings, in addition to bus service traffic footage. Other features include bus routes, fares and estimated travelling time; map and journey planner; 3-D directory and vicinity location finder; customer feedback and virtual assistance as well as charging of mobile devices. These are expected to be fully implemented by year-end. For the safety and security of commuters, video analytics will be used to analyze changing behavioral patterns of people as well as age and gender profiles. This data can also help in bus schedule planning and optimization. In order to manage the complex IT system at the temporary bus interchange, SDN solutions will be used to manage new and existing network issues.

NEC Asia Pacific announced that Mr. Tetsuro Akagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 1 April 2016. He will be responsible for the business operations and expansions of the Asia Pacific region to further deliver its growth plans. Mr. Tetsuro Akagi has held various senior positions in sales, financial, operational and business management roles in both Japan and other countries since he joined NEC over 30 years ago. He possesses vast international experience in sales, business planning and management functions gained in the United States, Hong Kong, China and Australia. He has been NEC Australia's Managing Director since January 2014, where he was responsible for evolving the company into one of the country's leading ICT solutions and services business. Mr. Akagi succeeds Mr. Toshiya Matsuki who has led NEC Asia Pacific's businesses in the region since April 2013.
