Flatiron and Blythe Development Win $140 Million Contract for Road Project in US

Flatiron, together with its joint venture partner Blythe Development, has secured a contract to build three additional segments of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway in Forsyth County, North Carolina. The $140 million, I-74 Winston Salem Beltway project will include a seven-mile stretch of six-lane divided facility from University Parkway to Old Walkertown Road. The project will also include new bridges, drainage, overhead signs, and ITS devices. The three new segments (U-2579D, E and F) are part of the planned 34-mile semicircle around the northern side of Winston-Salem.Once completed, the beltway is expected to reduce traffic congestion, provide better regional connectivity and provide residents with improved access to jobs, educational opportunities and area services.Design is expected to begin soon and construction in mid-2019. The project is expected to be completed in 2021. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is building the multi-lane freeway that loops around the northern part of Winston-Salem. The estimated cost of the project is $1.74 billion. The Winston-Salem Northern Beltway is divided into two parts the Eastern Loop and the Western Loop.Part of the future I-74 corridor, the 17.1-mile Eastern Loop (U-2579), runs from US 52 to I-74/US 311, and the 17.4-mile Western Loop (R-2247) runs from US 158 (Stratford Road) to US 52. The Eastern Loop is funded for $1.067 billion and the Western Loop is funded for approximately $673 million.

Flatiron Constructors Wins $145 Million US Bridge Contract

Flatiron Constructors has been awarded a $145.3 million contract by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to design and build a new bridge at Rodanthe in North Carolina, US.

Flatiron Constructors JV Wins North Carolina Road Contract

The contract, awarded by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to Flatiron Constructors JV, will include reconstruction of a 1.2-mile stretch of Interstate 40 Business/U.S. 421 in Winston-Salem. The design-build project, known as Business 40 improvement project, will involve the replacement of the entrance and exit ramps, eliminating some, like the Broad Street interchange, and lengthening others, including at Marshall and Cherry Streets; It will also include replacement of the bridges on and over Business 40 with new structures; removal of the existing pavement and replacing it with new pavement; and visual enhancements to the roadway and the bridges. Construction on one section, the Peters Creek Parkway, to set to commence in 2017 and will be completed by late 2018.
