Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd. announced unaudited earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of RUB 1,176 million compared to RUB 3,440 million a year ago. OLBDA was RUB 1,397 million against RUB 444 million a year ago. Operating loss was RUB 1,591 million compared to RUB 662 million a year ago. Loss attributable to Sistema was RUB 1,723 million against RUB 1,468 million a year ago. SSTL's results in the second quarter and first half of 2017 reflect the company's decision to freeze client acquisition and marketing campaigns, as Sistema and Reliance Communications Ltd. ("RCom") continue to work towards the merger of SSTL's telecommunications business with RCom.
For the six months, the company reported revenues of RUB 2,731 million compared to RUB 7,404 million a year ago. OLBDA was RUB 2,592 million against RUB 396 million a year ago. Operating loss was RUB 2,982 million compared to RUB 858 million a year ago. Loss attributable to Sistema was RUB 2,942 million against RUB 2,645 million a year ago.
Tata Reportedly In Early Talks To Join Reliance, Aircel and MTS

Reliance Communications Limited (NSEI:RCOM) and Tata Sons Limited are believed to have initiated talks to explore a possible union that could see Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (BSE:532371) join forces with the merged Reliance, Aircel Cellular Limited and Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, persons familiar with the matter said. According to media reports, Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani has approached N Chandrasekaran, who takes over as Tata Sons' chairman on Tuesday, to discuss the merger. However, the report added that no deal has been finalised and obstacles include Tata Teleservices' huge debt.
