ECB Advises CaixaBank To Reduce Stake In Banco de Fomento Angola

CaixaBank, S.A. (BME:CABK) had received a non-binding recommendation from the ECB to gradually reduce its stake in Banco de Fomento Angola, S.A. within a reasonable timeframe. CaixaBank SA will sell off all or part of the 48.1% stake in Banco de Fomento Angola SA that it will acquire when it completes the planned buyout of Banco BPI, S.A. (ENXTLS:BPI). CaixaBank noted that it does not have a specific plan for reducing its eventual stake in BFA, but said any potential divestment would have to comply with the shareholder agreement to which BPI is subject and comply with local banking rules.

BFA Announces Board Changes

Banco BPI completed the transfer of a 2% stake in Banco de Fomento Angola to Unitel. Fernando Ulrich stepped down as chairman of BFA's board, and will reportedly be replaced by Mário Leite da Silva. José Pena do Amaral also resigned as a member of the BFA board. Francisco Costa and Otília Faleiro resigned as members of the executive committee, but will remain as nonexecutive members of the BFA board.
