Detroit Medical Center Is First in Michigan to Use the Narrowest Stent Width Available in the United States to Treat Coronary Disease

The Detroit Medical Center’s (DMC) announced that its interventional cardiology team at Heart Hospital recently became the first in Michigan to offer patients with coronary artery disease a new treatment option for vessels that are difficult to stent because of the size and intricacy. The EluNIR drug-eluting stent has the narrowest strut width of any FDA-approved stent currently available in the U.S. This low profile stent, with radiopaque spring tip, makes it easier to maneuver in heavily calcified or intricately curved blood vessels.

Detroit Medical Center Announces Executive Changes

Detroit Medical Center announced that Anthony Anthony (Tony) J. Tedeschi, M.D., has been named chief executive officer of DMC, effective immediately. He succeeds Joe Mullany, who has left the organization to pursue other opportunities. Dr. Tedeschi most recently served as CEO of Tenet's four-hospital Chicago Market and as the top executive at Weiss Memorial Hospital.

Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University Physician Group Agrees to Contract

Detroit Medical Center and the Wayne State University Physician Group have agreed to a contract, which includes a substantial reduction in payment from the company to the School of Medicine.
