Through Bloomberg charts, Christopher Cain, Equity Strategist, Bloomberg Intelligence will review the recent performance of popular equity factors such as momentum, value, and low volatility. Chris will demonstrate how to interpret these factor charts to gain insight as to what characteristics have been driving relative returns in the US equity market. In addition, the session will explore the correlation between interest rate moves and equity factor performance.
Building Frameworks to Understand the Crypto Market
Jamie Douglas Coutts, Crypto Markets Analyst, Bloomberg Intelligence will explore the current state of play in the crypto and digital assets space. Jamie will provide an overview of the current market cycle for both Bitcoin and the wider ecosystem as well as an investigation of the most important macro drivers. The session will introduce frameworks for how Terminal users can analyze value zones, trend following rules, and relative momentum opportunities.
How to Backtest Your Investment Strategies
In this session, Tim McCullough, Technical Analysis Specialist, will demonstrate how to backtest investment strategies based on major policy-maker decisions, key cross-asset movements (e.g., equities, yield curves, commodities, currencies, and volatility), and consistent cross-asset application of trend, momentum and other sentiment measures. He will also show how to blend all three methodologies (policy, cross-asset, and sentiment) together.

Take a deep dive into Markets Live (MLIV), the Terminal's streaming markets blog and learn how the charts displayed throughout the commentary can bring more insight to the breaking news of the day. Felice Maranz, MLIV editor, will demonstrate how you can use MLIV to generate ideas through examples showcasing cross-asset opportunities and stock sector trends, as well as gold, crypto, and ESG investing.

Tim is the application specialist in Technical Analysis at Bloomberg LP in London, where he manages the rapidly increasing demand for charting and data visualization tools in EMEA.
He has over 30 years’ experience in financial markets, in trading, sales and research at major international banks, including State Street, UBS, BNP Paribas and Lloyds. He uses diverse but complementary technical methodologies, based on behavioral finance, to help Bloomberg clients to analyze sentiment in all asset classes and all conditions of volatility and liquidity.
In 2018 he additionally took an MSc in Financial Investigation, including a dissertation examining the dependency of financial markets on illicit flows from money laundering. He previously took a BA in Classics and is a full member of the Society of Technical Analysts in London and of IFTA.

Christopher Cain, CMT, is the U.S. Quantitative Equity Strategist for Bloomberg Intelligence, where he focuses on factor investing, quantitative modeling and analysis of systematic trading strategies. He is a former fixed income market maker, trading a 400MM book consisting of cash rates products and US Interest Rate derivatives. Mr. Cain is passionate about systematic/quantitative investing, equity factor modeling, trading system design and testing, Python programming and behavioral finance.

Jamie is a crypto market analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence and is responsible for creating crypto market structure, asset, sector and thematic analysis content for clients. He takes a multi-disciplinary approach to his analysis of this emergent asset class, combining fundamental, technical, quantitative, macro and on-chain data. Jamie has over 20 years of experience in the financial markets, starting his career as a stockbroker in Australia. He went on to work as a hedge fund trader and in equity sales. He joined Bloomberg in 2014 as an equity specialist driving operational and alpha generation initiatives within the CIO office and investment teams for APAC buy sides. Over the past four years, Jamie has immersed himself in the crypto/digital assets space, helping shape the product offering and sales strategy. Jamie also holds a Chartered Markets Technician (CMT) designation and serves on the global board of the CMT Association.
