New year, new challenges. As the world grapples to live with Covid, oil demand is reaching for pre-pandemic levels. But, as supply struggles to keep track and physical premia surge, the market structure moves into steeper backwardation. Will 2022 truly mark the ‘end of the storm’ or is a new one brewing?

Join us for a panel discussion about the long terms effects of the pandemic and a return to normal. Is the impact on flight schedules and road traffic lasting? Can OPEC keep up with the increased demand with Russia experiencing supply issues of its own? Our panel of experts from banks, merchants, hedge funds, and journalism will weave together nascent market fundamentals, macro-economics and price trajectories, discussing:
  • Covid-19 pandemic: is this is still a major driver for the demand, and how is this going to play out through 2022?
  • Crude supply: as Russia joins OPEC in struggling to bring Crude supply up to agreed levels, do we face a major squeeze on global supplies?
  • US Shale: the DOE forecasts a 600kb/d increase in US crude production to 12.41mb/d in 2023. What are the global ramifications for the return of light, sweet barrels?
  • Inflationary pressures have moved from the domain of forecasts to fact, not in the least because of higher energy prices. Could a feedback loop similarly dent its rally?
Additionally, analysts from BloombergNEF and Bloomberg Intelligence will be sharing their views in our Oil Analyst Briefing on February 23. Make sure to join for additional analysis and insights.
