Biodiversity Analytics: BI Tutorial
The Global Biodiversity Framework's aim to preserve and protect 30% of nature and oceans by 2030 and to increase financing to $200 billion per year has propelled biodiversity into the ESG limelight. Mentions of "biodiversity" or "natural capital" in S&P 500 filings rose fivefold in the fourth quarter of 2022 vs. the prior year. Meanwhile, assets assigned to biodiversity funds increased to $878 million in 2023 from $226 million in 2021. With key disclosure frameworks set to finalize in 2H and new investor coalitions emerging such as the Nature Action 100, we anticipate a rise in related shareholder activism, labeled debt, corporate strategies and banks' financing targets in the years ahead.
In this video, Melanie Rua, an ESG research associate, demonstrates the breadth and scope of biodiversity analytics on the Bloomberg Terminal.
