Rubio: China State Visit Should Be ‘Downgraded’

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio says the designation of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s trip to Washington as a “state visit” should be “downgraded not canceled.”

  • “They’re not deserving of a state visit,” the Fla. senator says in interview today with conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt, citing China’s alleged hacking of U.S. government computers
  • NOTE: State visit includes formal dinner at White House
  • NOTE: Wis. Gov. Scott Walker, one of Rubio’s competitors for GOP presidential nomination, has called on Obama administration to cancel the state visit invitation over China’s currency devaluations.
