Clinton Says Biden Should Have ‘Space’ to Decide 2016 Run

Democrat Hillary Clinton says she’s running for president regardless of whether Vice President Joe Biden enters the race.

  • Clinton, taking questions from reporter in Iowa, calls Biden a “friend” and says she has “great deal of admiration” for him
  • Says she’s going to “run as hard as I can” and earn votes
  • Biden should have the “space and opportunity” to decide what he wants to do; decision must be “hard one,” Clinton says, adding that she attended funeral of Biden’s son, Beau, in May
  • Clinton was accompanied by USDA Secretary and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, who has endorsed the former senator and first lady
  • Vilsack says today he “firmly stands behind” Clinton’s White House run
