Thousands Call for Jon Stewart to Moderate a Presidential Debate

More than 85k people have signed an online petition calling for Jon Stewart, the satirist and former fake newsman, to moderate a 2016 presidential debate.

  • Stewart, who on Aug. 6 ended his 16-yr run as host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” has played an “influential and iconic” role covering U.S. politics and media; he’s interviewed 15 heads of state, petition on Change.org says
  • “We ask that the Commission on Presidential Debates consider and provide the opportunity to Mr. Stewart to host one of the three major presidential debates directly preceding the 2016 election. We also wish for a public response to this petition”
  • NOTE: Stewart’s manager and debate commission representative didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment
