14th Amendment Change ‘Inconsequential’ If Border Secured: PerryJohn McCormick
It would take “years, probably decades” to alter 14th Amendment of U.S. Constitution that grants American citizenship to those born in country, even if their parents are illegal immigrants, Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says in Iowa.
- “There isn’t enough time for that,” says Perry, former Texas governor
- “Build that security on that border, with the personnel, the strategic fencing and the aviation assets, then you don’t have to have this conversation”
- NOTE: Donald Trump sparked debate over U.S. birthright citizenship this week when he proposed ending that status for children of illegal immigrants as part of his immigration plan
