Jeb Bush’s VA Plan Could Boost HCA, Tenet, Universal Health: BIDerek Wallbank
“HCA and Tenet are most exposed to a shift in VA hospital admissions to the private sector, given their exposure to states with the most VA admissions,” Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Jason McGorman says.
- NOTE: Bush today laid out plan for VA care that says if veteran wants to see local physician “he or she has earned that choice” and “VA must remain the guarantor of that choice and that care”
- “Universal Health and other behavioral health facilities could get additional admissions from Jeb’s plan to focus on behavioral/mental health of Veterans": McGorman
- NOTE: Bush also seeks expanded participation of existing law option whereby veterans who live a 40-mile drive from nearest VA medical site would be eligible for govt-funded care at private hospital
- BI’s McGorman, Nick Taborek wrote in April hospitals most exposed to policy shift ‘‘may include those with locations in rural areas, such as Community Health Systems and LifePoint Hospitals”
