Santorum Says Republican Debate Rule Is a ‘Miscarriage’

Debate rule is “undermining the process” established by the RNC for states and voters make that call, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says at Christian Science Monitor breakfast.

  • Rule is “yardstick that has no relation to who the primary winners are going to be”
  • NOTE: Fox has established rule saying top 10 candidates in an average of 5 most recent national polls will participate in first Republican debate Aug. 6 in Cleveland
  • Santorum says given that benchmark he may not have been included in 2012, even though he ended up winning Iowa
  • “It’s a miscarriage by the RNC to agree to something like that. Having said that, we’ll play by the rules”
  • NOTE: Santorum is one of at least 15 candidates who have declared they are running for Republican nomination
