Rand Paul Says He’ll Force Expiration of Patriot Act

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul said he will force expiration of the Patriot Act by refusing to allow Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to speed debate on the surveillance bill in Sunday’s Senate session.

“Forcing us to choose between our rights and our safety is a false choice and we are better than that as a nation and as a people,” Paul, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, said in a statement on Saturday.
