Carly Fiorina to Fox News: Game On
Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said Wednesday she plans to qualify for the Fox News primary debate this summer, despite her low standing in today's polls.
“Glad @FoxNews released its metrics for the 1st debate,” the former Hewlett-Packard CEO wrote on Twitter. “I'll look forward to making the cut and making my case to GOP voters on Aug 6th.”
The network said Wednesday it would limit participation in its Cleveland, Ohio, debate to the top 10 candidates based on an average of the five most recent national polls, according to the Washington Post—a move supported by the Republican National Committee. In an exceptionally crowded GOP field, those rules could cut upward of five candidates from the stage.
Excluded from the debate if it were held this week, according to the newspaper: Fiorina, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, former New York Governor George Pataki, former Senator Rick Santorum, and Ohio Governor John Kasich.
