Ernst Wins Moderate Speaking Point Ahead of Weekend Senate Debate

The designation isn't likely to sway a lot of voters, but it will give her a little cover.

Republican Joni Ernst just got handed a speaking point for her U.S. Senate campaign debate this weekend in Iowa against Democrat Bruce Braley.

The bipartisan group No Labels today granted her its "Problem Solver Seal of Approval." The designation isn't likely to sway a lot of voters, but it will give her a little cover when Braley tries to paint her as an extremist tied to the Koch Brothers and the Tea Party.

The group has ties to Democratic fundraiser Nancy Jacobson and former Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman. It gave Braley the same "Seal of Approval" designation in July.

To win its blessing, candidates must commit to working on such goals as reforming Medicare and Social Security "so they are secure another 75 years," balancing the federal budget by 2030 and making the U.S. "energy secure" by 2024.
