US Ambassador to the UK Gives 100th Talk to UK Students at Bloomberg London
October 29, 2015
This week, United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom Matthew Barzun joined us at Bloomberg London for an interactive discussion on US foreign policy with a group of 120 16-18 year-old students from local east London schools engaged with Bloomberg-supported mentoring charity ReachOut.
Ambassador Barzun led an interactive workshop during which students were encouraged to share their opinions on the US, voicing their concerns and frustrations, such as police brutality, obesity and gun laws, along with what they liked about the country, such as respect, freedom of speech and Hollywood. Ambassador Barzun responded to their concerns by assuring students the US is self-critical, listens, and is confident enough to be self-correcting.

ReachOut is a charity that changes the lives of young people from disadvantaged communities in London and Manchester through one-to-one mentoring. Bloomberg has been a proud supporter of ReachOut for nearly a decade. During that time, Bloomberg employees have volunteered more than 1000 mentoring hours across ReachOut’s network of supported schools in London.
