Sure, right, depending on the details, I can see how this might be bad:

I don’t know exactly what this unnamed data firm was telling this unnamed hedge fund, but it does sound like it might be … industrial espionage? Trespassing? Why would the oil companies want to let some outsider to stick sensors on their rigs in order to sell data to hedge funds? Something feels a bit icky about it.
