Don't Blame All of Tourism's Decline on Trump. Just Most.

The dollar's rise kept some away long before he took office. Now there are other, darker reasons.

Tourism to the U.S. has declined 4 percent since Donald Trump became president last January, NBC News reported Tuesday. But here's an interesting thing I discovered when I looked up the data, which comes from the Commerce Department's National Travel and Tourism Office. Visits to the U.S. had started declining well before Trump took office:
