  • 00:00Summer comes in 1 0 four point two. Up from a revised one to three point four. It does show that consumer confidence improved somewhat during the month of March. This probably includes some of the time period that we've had with the bank situation. So maybe people aren't overly concerned about that at this point. Still looking for the complete overall breakdown of their numbers, which I'm just getting from the conference board. And basically the numbers seem to be okay in terms of where they're going from here. The number that we always want to watch with the conference board numbers is the jobs figures, because that tells you what might happen with employment coming up. And the number of people who think that jobs are plentiful declined a little bit to forty nine, one from fifty one to jobs not so plentiful. Rose to forty point six. And the jobs hard to get basically unchanged. So people probably seeing the overall number of jobs available a little bit worse. Not a direct correlation, but it does give us an idea of where we are going with the labor market. Interesting thing. And you pointed out that the number for the expectations goes up. Same thing with jobs. People think six months from now there's going to be more jobs available. So overall, this is a pretty good report. I don't know, Alex, if you're spending money, but total spending plans, little change. Forty three point one from forty three point three. So Americans not really changing their plans to go out and add to GDP. No, no. I've stopped spending in the U.S.. I'm back to the budget. I am. And my expectation is low. I just feel that it's the bottom end of that reading. Hey, Mike, in terms of the jobs number, though, it's so interesting that you mentioned that because I feel like there's a difference now in sort of in expectation of where GDP is going, where the credit crunch may come next in banking versus the job picture. That's still very strong. It's like both of those things can't exist at the same time. Well, that's the theory behind the Fed's tightening. And that's why the Fed thinks that unemployment is going to go up. It just hasn't happened yet. And the question is, when is that going to happen? We look at a lot of different indicators. This is only one small contribution to The View, but we're still seeing well in excess of 200000 as the consensus forecast for the April 7th March job numbers.
