  • 00:00[CC may contain inaccuracies] Is this the reasoning why we're seeing so much pressure on the US all there is this chart on the Bloomberg shows with investors already sort of pricing in a Fed cut. I mean, the daughter is supported by, I would say three things, right? One is caddy. Second is just risk aversion. And third is called defense of investors feeling a bit more optimistic about the US relative to the rest of the world. I think Caddy peak sometime in Q1 of next year. Right. Whether the terminal rate is five or five and a half I and a quarter, as Bill Dudley was alluding to earlier, we pee in the first quarter. Then you have your left sort of two supports of the dollar. One is that what occurs in growth? On the basis that I heard the commentary earlier about about China, that makes a huge difference on the growth side. Then the third support is basically risk aversion. And we think the worst news on the Russia Ukraine situation is already in the price. Unless we look at something unconventional cutting, that's the price. So so investors are trading on all of those three things. But I would agree with you that it's basically that rate cut coming some point in time. So the candid bunch is declining somewhat in time. And the latter half of next year is something that investors are looking to trade into. So how important is Chinese growth in terms of the broader developing market space? Well, I think it's very important, right, because Chinese growth is a lot more linked. We call it rest of em. And it's also a lot more linked with Eurozone less often link with with us. So Chinese growth does have the potential to continue. For us to continue seeing this decline and getting in the dollar and investors being able to rebalance their assets from us or not us. If we look at data from 1998 till now, it's about the most extreme positioning we've seen with specifically institutional investors in terms of their preference for dollar denominated assets relative to the rest of the world. And that imbalance is not going to change unless investors see some short dean signs that the dollar is going to start its decline. It is going to continue for some time, and Chinese growth is critical to that. That kind of growth advantage reducing for for the dollar. And of course, Chinese growth being critical to that Covid zero. And it's critical to the Chinese growth story. When you say you're optimistic about the reopening, what does that optimism look like? Is it sort of first quarter of next year? A staggered reopen? How much are you accounting for? You know, two steps forward and one step back. What once we actually do get some form of reopening? I mean, I think that, you know, investors initially coming out of the Communist Party meeting tended to basically trade Chinese assets on rumors, I would say, or below the news that came out at the moment, we sort of took an approach to say, well, let's wait and see what actions they're going to take the action to be more positive. And I think we've seen a rally in Chinese assets. I think perhaps March is the next point in time when you start seeing something more and more widespread, it coming from an opening standpoint. So it's why I would say that that March timeframe, but I think that use will incrementally continue being more positive out of China, specifically providing more support on the fiscal side, monetary side. Anything that can be growth stabilizing, not supportive. I think that trend is going to continue, which frankly is encouraging forward for Chinese assets to again, you know, you you said about one step forward, two steps back. I think we continue thinking about that. But but right now, I would say that news has been more encouraging than discouraging heading into the year. We are still underweight equity assets, but I think as the year progresses and we see some of those bodies, bodies abate, things will be a time to think about adding to risk assets. And within that, I would say some favoring towards non U.S. assets, whether that's even more to Europe. But it would be then on us that we'd be looking more closely at because again, that has a utilization advantage. And I think the earnings advantage we've seen with U.S. equities, maybe that's diminishing in a world where we value us is a chance to outperform. What are you lacking in credit? Because I know you prefer investment grade over high yield at the moment. Where are you finding those opportunities in Asia? I think I think that corporate credit did exist across the board. So it occurs in parts of EMT as in parts of the automotive book. Because the parts of us, I think in all those areas, what good generally seeing is that in terms of default rates, still super low distress rates are rising up across the board across Ireland and across investment grade. But I think still in most corporations across the world did a really good job of extending maturity of their credit and also locking in lower rates. So the next big test for credit comes in 2024. Call it towards the end of 2020. Forward beginning to identify with it isn't what the maturity to deal with. But in between that period, if RTS plays out and the Fed actually starts going into a mode where they're going to be more growth obsessed, inflation obsessed and some of the rate cuts, that gives some room for companies to extend that. So against that backdrop, looking at credit with it's trading at a slight premium to 20 year averages across the world. Sounds like a good opportunity to be buying selectively in in credit. We open the year very negative on credit. So you stand away. Right now, we're neutral on the ISE side, still a bit underweight across the board, across Europe, Asia and the US on high yield, but have narrowed the balance. So maybe it was negative 6 or 7 percent at the beginning. The and not more like 3 percent, but. But credit where we're pretty much neutral right now. Worse as being usually underweight at the beginning of the year. And it's part of our duration play.
