The Kazakh government has released video it says shows protesters clashing with police at the beginning of the unrest in the Central Asian country.
The footage also showed a burnt out building the government says was a television studio in the Almaty region, and what it says were damaged police cars in Shymkent city.
The AP cannot independently verify the content of the video or the circumstances under which it was filmed.
The video is from the Almaty region, said to be January 5. (Source: Bloomberg)
