  • 00:00Going on at the Bank of England the last 24 hours a one each dogfish to hawks. Yeah. Over the course of 24 hours and we're back into a scenario that we haven't really seen since 2000 2015 . They've certainly boxed themselves into a corner not just with the minutes but also with Carney's talk overnight and the legal speech which you know the uber dove has turned into. Maybe not a hawk but certainly into someone more towards the center of the pack and so that we've we've shifted our expectations that we will instead of not seeing a rate rise until probably 2019 . We're going to see one in November and it's probably going to be unanimous. Yeah. Sixty four percent the probability of moving up from below 20 as I said looking at a work function I mean is it a big deal. Jeremy in 25 basis points post Brexit made sense insurance a year on. Yes Brexit is having an impact that's clear but not as gloomy as many had said. So what's the big deal. When we'd been a point five for most of the last seven eight years and just point to five for the last year. Well what's the big deal about crucial thing will be how they communicate. There's some whether this is a one and done or whether this is the beginning of the series and if it is a beginning of a series why they think now if they are true to their word and believing that inflation is going to roll over from October November time yeah fine it might be a little bit above 3 percent and therefore the gap between inflation and wages is going to be at a fairly high level. Whether that rolls over into the early part of next year we start looking at trend growth which is still pretty weak. Wages obviously still pretty weak productivity pretty low and inflation no longer quite so much so much above target. So we think it's one and done well we know the economic conditions are certainly not in place for a hiking cycle. If it is a slow gradual and limited hiking cycle they've talked about in the past that's probably 25 basis points every six months with a probable cap of below 2 percent at one and a half maybe. So as it stands at the moment we remain to be convinced about why anything should be done more than reversing the emergency. Jeremy our market participants being a little bit too hard on Mark Carney I think my colleague's been pretty hard on market participants as well. I mean he has been the you know the characterizes the unreliable unreliable boyfriend in the Bank of England is the bank that has cried wolf a couple of times during the financial during the financial crisis I think we've we've sat there and we've taken central bankers at their word for a long long time and now we want to see some if you're going to talk about action . Give us give us some action and then cogently in the attached press conference or minutes or whatever it may be. Explain what you are doing. Remember forward guidance what will happen to that if they want us to. If they want us to come along for the ride I'd have to explain kind of where we're going .
