  • 00:00So are you disappointed with the eviction of Nicolas Sarkozy in office. Of course home is. But you knew the most important thing is to be able to identify a clear candidate to defeat. Is a far right Marine Le Pen leader and island government. So what did the French want. Did they want someone fresh. Did they think that Sarkozy was fresh enough. I think they want two things First that won't change five years or so long terrible years. They want change they want right agenda. And second they want a new personality. And maybe both you and Sarkozy have the same right agenda but for appears now as a new man . And unlike Sarkozy we've seen that Nicolas Sarkozy has decided to call out to vote for a possible deal in the runoff next Sunday. Does that mean that the chances of those you pay I'll get really close to zero now. Oh it's you know prediction is always difficult but I think it will be very very difficult for Mr. Xi Jinping. So does that mean that Paul Sweeney easily subpoena to become the next French president. You're right . This primary election is clearly the first round of the French president's election and they feel is a winner in one week. He has a great chance to become as a French president. Do you think Paul Sweeney has higher or lower chances to resist the National Front leader Marine Le Pen in the runoff of next year . Yes I think that I believe that because in fact the French won't clear right changes and when compared to GDP which with more moderate for your right agenda and probably the French will decide to vote to feel instead of like independent if they have a choice between Hollande and making Le Pen have no choice you have to vote for an independent fortunately. But we see your . And look Ben clearly is a choice will be in favor of feel the way that given that Paul feels views on social issues for example such as immigration gay marriage. His views are closer to the ones of my pen than I should be. As for LE Some parts of London depend on the far right candidates. Some of it's of her program is very excessive when you speak about European issues for example. She wants to France to exit from Europe and French probably do not want that. They want a clear right agenda without danger and marketing depend is a danger. We've seen that the opinion polls have failed again to predict these primaries just like they did with Brexit just like they did . We've done that Trump. Do you think the opinion polls are failing to understand what was the white working class was nearly as you can a UK ise in North America. We strongly opposed her failed to projects two outcomes. Why. Because I think that two models who maybe is a mathematical model of the pollsters do not take in account is a moderate and conservative rights class. And it's a new proof. Absolutely unable to predict the outcomes. We have to to to to change. Is a way to do the pollsters. Very quickly do you think beyond being the new frontrunner is good news for the economy and for the financial markets. What's what's the economy what the markets want. They want stability and they wouldn't trust and with yours they will have stability and trust .

November 21st, 2016, 8:06 AM GMT+0000

A last-minute rush of support for former Prime Minister François Fillon in the center-right primary saw Nicolas Sarkozy knocked out of the French presidential race at the first hurdle. With more than 90 percent of polling stations reporting, Fillon, 62, had 44 percent of the vote with long-time front-runner Alain Juppe second on 28 percent, according to election officials. Sarkozy was third with 21 percent. Fillon and Juppe will now face each other in a run off next Sunday. European Parliament Member Philippe Juvin discusses the French election with Bloomberg's Caroline Connan on "Bloomberg Daybreak: Europe." (Source: Bloomberg)
