Is Italy Next in Line to Catch the Populist Fever?
With the U.S. election now out of the way, Europe’s focus turns to a series of its own votes over the next 12 months, including the Netherlands’ general election (March), the French presidential election (April) and the German federal election (third quarter). First, however, is Italy’s constitutional referendum on Dec. 4. Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has said he’ll quit if the reforms aimed at streamlining the government are rejected.
