Canada's Media Market Is 'Very Competitive': Cogeco CEO

Canadian consumers have long complained that too few players own far too much of the country’s media landscape, and that has created pricey bills for cable, Internet or cellphones. Cogeco Communications lies somewhat outside the fray of the Big Three - Rogers, Bell and Shaw. But the Montreal-based company is still North America’s 8th-largest cable operator, with a million customers in Quebec, Ontario and several U.S. states. And although its long-time CEO Louis Audet is critical of any further vertical integration of companies in Canada, he still thinks Canadians are well served by a fair level of competition.
