00:00On the acquisition front you've made about four billion dollars in acquisitions recently. Why has been Salesforce been so acquitted acquisitive. What are you trying to position the company for the future. Well we only buy a company when two things happen. One it has to be a great company of great entrepreneurs and great technology and to the price has to be right. And coming into this fiscal year I didn't really think we were going to buy any companies at all. It wasn't part of our business plan and then just a series of things started to happen which opened the door. The biggest thing that happened I think everyone knows is we got a phone call that demand where I had an offer from another major software company and where we going to be part of that process and we said yes we love those guys and we love that e-commerce cloud. Oh yeah. This is an amazing product that's used by so many of our customers already . Companies like Louis Vuitton and Adidas and even Under Armour are huge demand where customers and when they saw the ability for Salesforce and demand where to come together as one company it gave us the ability to sell online. You can go to Adidas dot com and see demand where in action they're going to probably sell more than a billion dollars a year this year on that platform that's amazing. And the technology is just incredible so we knew that's the right fit for us. And now of course I want to talk about one of the deals that you did that you didn't do which of course is LinkedIn. You guys looked at it Microsoft acquired the company going back would you do anything differently. Oh yeah I'd do everything differently but it goes in the category you can't win them all. And in our industry that's especially true when you're going up against Microsoft plus all the power and all the money and all the resources and kind of that monopolistic control you know you're at a disadvantage. But we gave it our best shot and we didn't win and we wish them the best. Does it make Microsoft a more formidable competitor. I mean this morning there was some news that I just glimpse that that they won one account. I think it was HP Inc. Which is the printer and peace division of the former Hewlett Packard is Microsoft plus Inc. Linked in a more serious threat to Salesforce. I don't think so. You know Salesforce remains know you can see their numbers the fastest growing software company in the top 10 it is faster growing than even Microsoft. And the other thing that's exciting is we're number one in CRM and the vast majority of CRM deals we win . We're never going to win them all but we win most. That's the most important thing for sale for us. Well I and I want to bring up one other competitor Oracle which earlier in the summer acquired net. I know them very well. Your former colleague does that. What does that deal do to Oracle CRM player. They a stronger competitor now. Again I don't really think so. I mean Oracle is making a desperation move to boost you know their cloud revenue and Larry owns half of Net Suite and he basically said I want that you know now he's going to be able to boost his cloud revenue and try to make his 10 billion dollar goal. He may not. He still may not be able to make it. You know I'm curious your friends and Larry Ellison still when you say things like desperate move on live TV you get a call or a text later in the day. I do. But you know to me you know my relationship with Larry Ellison is far more eternal and far more enduring and I view it. And he does as well and he talk because he taught me this. He doesn't pull his punches either when it comes to no he does not good here. Look I'll give tell you Brad how I look at it. Business is a lot like tennis. You know you get on the court with your friends you play as hard as you can. You get really upset. You say crazy things you go off the court you go and have lunch and have a glass of wine and remember how much you love them. I love Larry Ellison. He is a great mentor to me. It's been a great friend. Probably there is no one in the industry who's done more for me than Larry Ellison. I'm very grateful to him .
