Canada Home Starts Show Biggest Gain Since 1983

February saw the biggest one-month gain in the construction of homes since 1983. The massive building effort was powered by condo units in the country's hottest housing markets - Vancouver and Toronto. The annualized pace of home starts jumped 29 percent compared to January, to more than 212,000 units, beating economists' expectations of 180,000 units.
