Are Inflation Pressures Fading For Carney?
Bank of England Governor Mark Carney presented another reduction in inflation forecasts as a worsening global environment undercut the prospect of an interest-rate increase any time soon. The Monetary Policy Committee sees consumer-price growth returning to target in 2018, and price gains of just 0.8 percent this year. The nine-member panel’s vote to keep the key rate at 0.5 percent was the first unanimous decision since July. Carney said the next move is still likely to be up.
