Fischer Says Fed Rate Hike Probably Warranted by Year End

March 23 -- Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Stanley Fischer speaks about monetary policy in an address to the Economic Club of New York. In his prepared remarks, Fischer said raising interest rates from near zero “likely will be warranted before the end of the year” and subsequent increases probably won’t be uniform or predictable.
