U.S. Jobless Claims, Feb. Retail Sales Decline
March 12 -- Initial jobless claims in the U.S. dropped 36,000 to a three-week low of 289,000 in the period ended March 7 from a revised 325,000 in the prior week, a Labor Department report showed Thursday in Washington. Separately, retail sales unexpectedly decreased in February by 0.6 percent as inclement weather and low wage gains restrained shoppers.
