00:00This is The World Food Program compound in Banbury. It's where we can for a couple of nights and essentially it was the safest place for us to stay . We are in incredibly remote part of Central African Republic . The roads are empty. We rarely see it. Occasionally we see the trucks from Sudan or some soldiers that are passing by. What really felt like we were the only ones on the road . Occasionally going go past villages and occasional checkpoints with the Seleka rebels manning them . So after about four hours on the road pretty hot and dusty we finally got to the mine and we arrived to it's pretty chaotic scenes . Basically the mine had collapsed and people were running along the side of the road. There was wailing there was women grieving and I was pretty frantic situation. And so we've turned up in the middle of all this and to do our story and we've been assured by the Seleka rebels that it's okay. All right we're going back. Very quickly the mood changed and their work is obligated to nearly Michael Barr presence and in the kingdom quite a quite a rush. About five minutes from the mine we were stopped by locals and asked to carry one of their injured miners to the nearest medical facility about an hour or so out of town and it wouldn't have been a very comfortable ride for him considering how bumpy the road is and he had a broken leg and a pretty badly injured arm. Certainly the reality of the situation was brought home to us when we learned that there was also a dead mine there as well .
