U.S. Jobless Claims Rise to 313,000; CPI Falls 0.7%
Feb. 26 -- The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits increased by 31,000, more than forecast, to 313,000 in the week ended Feb. 21 from a revised 282,000 in the prior period, a Labor Department report showed today in Washington. Separately, the U.S. consumer-price index declined 0.7 percent in January after dropping 0.3 percent the prior month. Orders for durable goods rose 2.8 percent in January after a 3.7 percent decline in the previous month. Betty Liu and Scarlet Fu reports on Bloomberg Television's "In the Loop."
