U.S. Jobless Claims Rise; Wholesale Prices Decline

Jan. 15 -- U.S. initial jobless claims climbed by 19,000 to 316,000 in the week ended Jan. 10, the most since early September, from a revised 297,000 in the prior period, a Labor Department report showed today in Washington. Separately, the producer-price index decreased 0.3 percent, the biggest since October 2011, while the New York Federal Reserve's Empire State manufacturing index rose to 9.95, beating estimates.
