Coin-Sized Turbine That Can Charge Your Phone

Oct. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Researchers at the International Institute of Technology in Genoa have developed a 14-mm microturbine that can produce up to 30 watts of electrical power, exploiting fluid pressure coming from the environment or from industrial plants. It could allow remote monitoring on pipes from unmanned sites. Or simply recharge your mobile phone. IIT Advanced Microturbines CEO Emanuele Guglielmino explains. (Source: Bloomberg)
