Hungary Stocks: OTP Bank, E-Star, Est Media Move in Budapest
The benchmark BUX (BUX) index rose 0.2 percent to 17,121.19 by the close in Budapest.
The following are among the most active shares in the Hungarian market today. Stock symbols follow company names.
OTP Bank Nyrt. (OTP) , Hungary’s largest lender, fell 1.8 percent to 3,477 forint. The country’s parliament approved a tax on financial transactions. Emerging-market stocks fell to the lowest level in more than a week after Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said the nation’s economy faces “relatively large” downward pressure.
E-Star Alternativ Nyrt. (ESTAR) , an energy company, dropped 10 percent to 777 forint, the lowest since October 2007. Jozsef Laszlo Makra cut his stake in the company to 0.27 percent.
Est Media Vagyonkezelo Nyrt. (ESTMEDIA HB), an entertainment company, fell 13 percent to 21 forint, a record low. The company has slid 45 percent in the past five trading days after saying it offered to sell a stake in Hungary’s biggest outdoor music festival following a failed bond.
