Luiten Claims Iskandar Johor Open Title; Mulroy Has Alfred Dunhill Win
Joost Luiten shot a final-round 6- under-par 65 to win the Iskandar Johor Open for his first European Tour success, while Garth Mulroy also got a maiden tour victory to take the Alfred Dunhill Championship title.
Luiten, a 25-year-old from the Netherlands, finished on 15- under at the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club in Johor, Malaysia, one shot ahead of Sweden’s Daniel Chopra. The event had been reduced to three rounds because of heavy rain over several days.
“I don’t believe it yet,” Luiten told the European Tour’s website. “I think when you’re in position to win you always have some nerves, but I think that’s normal.”
Luiten collects a check for 242,580 euros ($328,100), the biggest prize of his career.
In Malelane, South Africa, Mulroy, 33, finished two shots ahead of Scotland’s George Murray in the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
The South African had a final-round 68 to end the tournament on 19-under.
