Tesco’s Neville-Rolfe Says Is Seeking Alternative Entry to India
“At the moment we have a franchise agreement with Tata Group company Trent Ltd. We are working with them, helping with supply-chain management. When we come on our own, when we are allowed, we will have to do it the Indian way and we are waiting for that moment.
‘‘We are told that we will be allowed to open stores today and then we are told it’s going to be tomorrow and it goes on. It does seem to be slow and challenging, which is why we are trying to look at an alternative way.
‘‘We have a long-term plan given than India is going to have about 25 percent of the world’s population. So it is good for us to invest more.’’
