Agrium, Corus, Domtar, Heroux-Devtek: Canadian Equity Preview
Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Canadian trading.
Agrium Inc. (AGU CN): Canada’s second-largest fertilizer producer is interested in buying Christchurch, New Zealand-based farm-services provider PGG Wrightson Ltd., the Marlborough Express said, citing unnamed sources. Todd Coakwell, a spokesman for Agrium, didn’t return a voicemail left on his mobile phone.
Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP (BIP-U CN): The owner of interests in energy, transportation and forestry companies reported fourth-quarter funds from operations of 39 cents a unit, missing the average of four analyst estimates by 14 percent.
Corus Entertainment Inc. (CJR/B CN): The owner of the YTV cable network had its rating raised to “top pick” from “outperform” by Drew McReynolds, an analyst at Royal Bank of Canada.
Domtar Corp. (UFS CN): The country’s biggest paper producer said it earned $2.41 a share, excluding certain items, in the fourth quarter, trailing the average of 14 analyst estimates by 20 percent.
Heroux-Devtek Inc. (HRX CN): The maker of aircraft parts reported third-quarter profit of 17 Canadian cents a share, excluding certain items, topping the average of six analyst forecasts by 26 percent.
Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM CN): The BlackBerry maker received an “outperform” rating in new coverage from Kris Thompson, an analyst at National Bank of Canada.
