Walt Disney Theme Park Construction May Start in May, Shanghai Daily Says
Major construction at Walt Disney Co.’s theme park in Shanghai could start as early as May with work on two major roads leading to the future site due to be completed in April, the Shanghai Daily reported, citing a local official.
The two roads in the city’s Pudong area are part of the 40 billion yuan infrastructure budget for Disney’s first park in mainland China, an amount equivalent to Pudong’s spending on infrastructure for last year’s World Expo, the report said, citing a Pudong Construction and Traffic Bureau official surnamed Wang.
All construction related to the Disneyland project is expected to be completed in 2014 and the park is due to open in 2015, the report said.
