In the space of a few weeks, Saudi Arabia has hosted some big global names that underline how the kingdom is positioning itself in the world. 

Flexing its diplomatic muscle, it brought together Arab leaders including the long-ostracized Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, in a blow to the US and European countries that still sanction him for war crimes.
