Ukrainian resistance to Russia’s invasion was strengthened after the Group of Seven unveiled a package worth more than $19 billion in short-term financial assistance and the US Congress passed $40 billion in aid for Kyiv, with a new pledge of American weapons.  

NATO’s top military leaders welcomed Sweden’s and Finland’s applications to join the alliance in the wake of Putin’s war.
