Putin Short of an Exit Plan Worries Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden says he’s “worried” Vladimir Putin doesn’t have a way out of his war against Ukraine and is “trying to figure out what we do about that.” His show of concern might encourage the Russian president to battle on.

Since first sounding the alarm that Russia was preparing for an invasion, Biden has been adept at reading Putin’s intentions and warning publicly of the consequences. Kremlin denials it planned a war were exposed as hollow, helping the U.S. rally European support for unprecedented sanctions on Russia.
