As a Hongkonger for the past few decades, it’s sad to report that the city — mired in its worst outbreak of the pandemic — has lost much of its vibrancy and resilience. The sentiment among many expatriates has turned from benign to sour, largely triggered by excessive Covid measures that stirred fear and anger, yet still failed to keep the city safe.
