America’s Poultry Workers Need More Virus Protections, Oxfam Says

What’s the cost of cheap chicken in the U.S.? According to a new report from Oxfam America, poultry production is coming at the expense of worker safety.

America’s meat industry was thrown into crisis this year as coronavirus outbreaks sickened thousands of workers and dozens died. While companies increased some safety measures, conditions are now “backsliding,” Oxfam said in the report.
