Venezuela’s Maduro Blasts Bukele’s Proposal to Swap Prisoners

Nicolas Maduro formally rejected Nayib Bukele’s proposal to exchange the hundreds of Venezuelans held in El Salvador’s notorious prison for the same number of political prisoners.

“What Bukele must do immediately today is sign a decree to release the 252 Venezuelans to Venezuela,” Maduro said, speaking on state TV Monday. He demanded that El Salvador inform his government of the legal situation and physical conditions of the detainees.
